Bingham Copper Mine

Our summer to do list included a tour of something. The kids and I crossed that off by visiting the Bingham Copper Mine. If you would like to visit, bring cash to get in. It's only five bucks, but there was no swindling the guard. I tried.

The kids were super cooperative not really interested in taking a group picture.

There were some really cool things to look at and a nice visitors center.

This is a shot looking down into the pit mine.  They mine copper, gold and silver.  Did you know all the metals used for the 2002 Winter Olympic medals came from this mine?

This tire came off a dump truck used to haul stuff at the mine.  You can see a truck in the bottom of the pit picture.  Pretty impressive when you think about the scale of things down there.

All in all, this was worth the drive, and leaving to get cash, and the drive back.
We had fun. Right kids?
