Our temperatures are dipping down, and I can't believe it was only a couple of weeks ago we were sweating out in the desert looking for geodes.
Davis had been looking forward to geode hunting with Grandpa Corey for a while. After the funeral we promised Davis we would still take him there.
During fall break we surprised the kids with a day trip out to practically the middle of no where. They couldn't have been more excited.
The kids started picking up every sparkly rock they could see - as soon as they got out of the car.
Tess and Collin stayed back from the digging and found ways to get themselves, and me, dirty.
When the digging became to laborious, we found a spot that was kind of like a geode graveyard. Tons of already broken and discards bits and bobs. The kids didn't mind that we weren't unearthing it ourselves. By this time Tess was just hanging out in the car sucking her thumb. To my surprise, she didn't complain once.
There was a lot of talk about snakes and scorpions, but we didn't see anything besides lizards.
Oh, and here is a little proof that I was actually there.
The weekend weather is shaping up to be a bit chilly. I'm glad we got out to the geode beds when we did.
I hope you have a great weekend where ever you are!
