I have a small shelf on my desk that the books would always fall off. To maximize book space, we used c-claps for bookends. These red clamps were a few bucks a piece at Home Depot. I did spot some cheaper black ones at Harbor Freight after I bought these.
While the red is really fun, it doesn't match anything in our house. Color was an easy fix.
Here is how we did it...
Let the spray paint dry over night. You don't want to smudge your super awesome paint job.
There were a few scratches on my desk from when I first tightened the clamps down. The felt pads should prevent any more of that.

This is such a great idea! I'm always a fan of things that are simple, cheap, and save on space.
what a good idea! I'm new to your blog and love the name! :-)
This is a great idea. I didn't know you could spray paint on metal. I don't know much about using spray paint actually.
Okay! We'll keep in touch.
I feel bad that I haven't commented before. Actually, my young women's group will be making some jewelry and we will be buying the charms from Yozo Craft. I got the idea from you. I can't remember if I found your blog from Melissa Esplin's or if I found it separately and then found out that you knew her. But it just goes to show how selfish I am that I read other people's blogs and never take the time to comment on them. It's one of my weaknesses.
Thanks for coming over and looking at my blog though, I appreciate it. It's hard just starting out, everyone seems to have the regular blogs they frequent and if you don't have something amazing to give to the world then it's difficult to get your name out there. Not that I need my name out there... I should be blogging just because I like it...
Okay I'm talking too much...
Oops, I think I used the wrong account to sign that with. Sometimes I go by becka.
